Special Olympics of Southern California with the Famed Harlem Globe Trotters
A Chance to Give Back with the Gift of Photography
“Looking at the smiles and joy on these athletes faces you can tell how important this day was for them.”
Each year I partner with a new community charity. In past years of partnered with the Junior League of Orange County and Make-A-Wish of Orange County and the Inland Empire and with Boys and Girls Club of Santa Monica. My goal is to work with non-profit causes that benefit children, adults and have strong tie and commitment to the communities in Southern California. This year I’m partnering with the Special Olympics of Southern California and will also continuing contributing to Make-A-Wish.
All these young basketball players had a special day to meet, clown around and play an actual game of b-ball with two true legends and heroes of basketball from the famed Harlem Globe Trotters, “Special K” Daley and Wun “The Shot” Versher. The Mayor of Anaheim Tom Tait was there too giving high fives to the athletes of Southern California Special Olympics and get schooled on how to twirl a basketball on his finger tip.
I remember when I was a kid, my father took me to see the Harlem Globe Trotters at Madison Square Garden. I sat there slack jawed at their antics and hoop tricks. This was a special day that many will remember for a long time to come. Looking at the smiles and joy on these athletes faces you can tell how important this day was for them.

A personal goal of mine is to create a main stream, highly visible, photographic media campaign for a charity foundation with the focus on children. If you know of anyone out there that is looking to do this kind of a project please steer them my way.
P.P.S. This is a great time of year to invest in yourself. Two things that I’m doing to educate myself are. (1) I’m starting an account with Audible, they are an Amazon company, one of the leading books on MP3 companies. You just start and account and download the book or books that you want to listen to on your iPod, iPhone or whatever, in your car, at the gym on the move. (2) I’ve started an membership with Kellby Training. Want to learn from some of the best photographic industry pros? Joe McNally, Jeremy Cowart, Juleianne Kost, Matt Kloskowski, Moose Peterson, John Paul Caponigro, to name a few. You can do it right form your laptop of desktop. Not sure if its supported on the iPad yet. Kellby Training, is a great place to do it. For less the $25 a month, you have 24/7 access to some of the best talent in our industry, from photo shoots to photoshop. I’m always looking to improve my skill set and for $25 bucks a month its a no brainer.
