If you’re a developer or realtor with a Los Angeles property listing, twilight photography can increase buyer inquiries dramatically. Here’s how I create those images for my clients.
“A single twilight image can do what a dozen daytime photos cannot. It stops a buyer mid-scroll, creates an emotional connection to the property, and makes your listing the one they remember. That is the power of a well-executed twilight shoot.”
Real Results: A Recent Commission
I was commissioned to re-photograph a $7 million, 6,500-square-foot home overlooking the Pacific Ocean in La Jolla for Christie’s International Real Estate. The first photographer they hired used HDR. The colors were awful, the windows with vistas of the Pacific Ocean were completely blown out, and the photographer scratched their custom walnut flooring.
My client was thrilled with the work I delivered. The property was left in perfect condition, and the images were magazine-ready.
That is the difference between a photographer who shows up and one who is prepared.
“Your buyers are not just purchasing square footage. They are purchasing a view, a feeling, a lifestyle. The photography has to deliver all three.”

What I Bring To Every Twilight Shoot
Capturing a compelling twilight image requires professional-grade equipment. Not because the gear matters to you, but because it directly affects the quality of what you receive.
I arrive at every shoot with a fully loaded kit purpose-built for this type of work. Leica camera bodies that handle any lighting condition cleanly, from the last rays of daylight to the deep blue of dusk, ensuring your images are sharp, noise-free, and magazine-ready regardless of the conditions we encounter.
A professional wide-angle tilt-shift lens captures your property in full context: the building, the surroundings, and the skyline, without the distortion that cheaper lenses produce. Every lens profile is corrected in post so lines are straight and perspectives are true.
A heavy-duty tripod is non-negotiable for twilight work. Long exposures require absolute stability. Even the slightest camera movement during a 1-2 second exposure ruins the shot. My setup allows me to move quickly between compositions without sacrificing that stability, which matters when you have a 10-minute window to capture the perfect sky.
The bottom line: I arrive prepared, I work efficiently, and I leave with the shot your property deserves.
Twilight Timing
“The difference between a good twilight shot and a great one is often measured in minutes. That window does not wait, and neither do I.”
Timing is everything in twilight photography. There is a narrow window, often no more than 10 to 15 minutes, where the sky reaches that perfect deep blue, the building lights glow warmly, and everything on the property comes alive. Miss it and the image is flat. Hit it and you have something extraordinary.
For this Los Angeles commercial shoot, my client wanted blurred car lights against a dramatic city skyline. The sunset was at 5:08pm. I captured the hero image at 5:11pm. The sky was the right color, the tail and headlights were clearly visible, and the building lights were glowing perfectly. Three minutes made all the difference.
The La Jolla shoot for Christie’s International Real Estate presented a different challenge entirely. A $7 million oceanfront property with sweeping Pacific views required perfectly balanced interior and exterior light, ensuring the vistas through the windows were as dramatic as the interior itself. No blown out windows. No dark corners. Just a true representation of what that property felt like to stand inside.
When the Interior Tells the Story
“The best real estate images do not document a property. They sell a life that someone wants to live.”
The Laguna Beach listing brought yet another dimension to the work. A stunning interior-to-exterior image of a multi-million dollar property, where the goal was to make the viewer feel the lifestyle, not just see the room.

Each property tells a different story. My job is to find the light, the moment, and the angle that tells your story. Twilight shoots are available as an add-on to any commercial photographic coverage. Ready to book a twilight shoot for your Los Angeles property?
