Students Who Attended My Luxury Real Estate Photography Workshop learned  a lot. On August 4th, I had the privilege of teaching a full-day workshop on Luxury Real Estate and Architectural Photography at Samy’s Pasadena location, sponsored by my friends at Sony. We spent the first half of the day in a classroom setting going over what gear I use, camera settings, and simple lighting techniques to really make your images pop! Robert Shelley‎, Senior US Training and Content Developer for Sony Digital Imaging was on hand the new a7M2 to try out, a600’s and a lot of top-end glass. Students all had the opportunity to work with their choice of Sony gear and lenses during the on-location workshop.
The second half of the class was on location in a La Canada, Mid Century Modern home, where I was able to demonstrate and put to work the techniques that were taught in class. It was at this point the students had their Ah-ha moments. Its one thing to talk about how to photograph luxury real estate and add off-camera lighting. But completely another thing to demonstrate it in real-time. It was great to show everyone how easy it is {one you know how} to light interiors given proper technique. My Sony a7s and FE 16-35mm f4 Z OSS were tethered to my MacBookPro via a Tether Tools TetherPro 15′ USB 2.0 A Male to Mini-B 5 Pin gold plated cable, to CaptureOne software for Sony. I really like the ease with which I was able to seamlessly tether my a7s to CaptureOne. It was a simple plug and play technology. For some reason, I just couldn’t get Adobe Lightroom v5.7.1 to play nice and tether. Adobe LR is my typical set up for post-production.
The feedback I got from students is phenomenal. Below are a few student testimonials.

Real Quotes from Real Students

“I didn’t even think twice to take Marc’s Real Estate Photography class, and it was worth every minute! Loved learning from him and was amazed at how generous and patient he was with his answers. His work is stunning and anyone is lucky to learn from him or hire him!” Kasi Hyrapett – Real Estate Photographer

“Hi Marc, Thank you for your excellent training on Architectural & Real Estate Photography. It was just the info I was looking for to tweak my real estate photos. I loved the tips you gave on clearing windows of clutter, the mirror tip, etc. I always felt that we had to lug around heavy lights and extension cords but you cleared that up real quick. Please notify me of any future classes.”
Steve Gong, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Drysdale Properties, Stockton, CA

Dear Marc: Thank you for an informative and enjoyable presentation today! I learned many things today I can use in my photography business.” John Nilsson, CCIM, CRS, GRI, Sales Associate, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage

“Marc, Just wanted to let you know that I thoroughly enjoyed your class today. You more then covered everything and I especially liked your putting everything you mentioned at the lecture to work in real life situations at the following photo shoot. It’s clear that you’ve achieved much into building a very successful business with your hard work and talent but just as important is your business acumen, very very likable personality and values you hold for the finished product and clients. My expectations of what was going to happen today were vastly exceeded. Thanks You, Thank You, Thank You.” Peter Coopersmith REALTOR® BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY, HomeServices California Properties

p.s. I’ll be doing another class in Orange County in the coming months. Email me if you are interested in attending. The class will be small, limited to 10 people, and will likely sell out quickly. There was a waitlist for the Samy’s class and they had to turn away people who came the morning of the class hoping to get a seat if someone canceled or didn’t show.
